19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from that period of the previous year.

Victory also means Medvedev has won 21 championships at 21 various events.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, comprising in Halle previously this season.

His retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his ability to compete at the top level was finished.

However the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

He came back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players traded breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.

The opponent defended 4 early chances in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the net area, with Moutet unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
