Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have come under escalating strikes in the past few days

Overnight, Russian aerial assaults have caused power cuts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were wounded while residents in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and faced problems to water systems, according to city officials.

At the same time, a young boy was fatally injured in a distinct aerial attack in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, according to local officials.

Moscow has escalated strikes on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while officials has demanded "substantial measures" from international partners to apply pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not superficial actions but firm measures - from the America, Europe and the Group of Seven - in supplying defensive weapons and enforcing penalties," was stated in a public message.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen missiles struck energy facilities, describing such assaults as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were laboring to repair systems.

A wave of strikes hit power facilities and residential structures in Kyiv.

Several of the people injured in the assaults on the capital have been hospitalized, per statements from city authorities.

Local officials said the city endured heavy assaults during nighttime hours. A minor was killed and multiple civilians were hurt.

The assaults follow periods of aerial attacks in the territory, sections of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

The whole nation is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to detect.

Government officials told journalists that Moscow was deliberately attempting to demolish the national power system, with assaults already impacting energy systems.

Officials stated energy workers and officials were anticipating more assaults.
